Start of the New Season of the Green Gold Beer Fountain
The first beer fountain in the world, the Green Gold Beer Fountain, is opening a new season.
The world’s first beer fountain, the Green Gold Beer Fountain, will enter the new season on Saturday, 28 March 2026.

A festival dedicated to brewers and beer lovers
Kriglfest
Beer lovers, brewers, hop growers, and pub owners have been celebrating International Beer Day since 2007. It takes place on the first Friday of August—and of course, we celebrate it in Žalec as well, the green capital of Slovenian hop growing and brewing.
In 2026, the vibrant music and culinary festivities will span two days—Friday, August 7, and Saturday, August 8.
Visitors can look forward to a rich and diverse program, featuring a wide range of culinary delights. Local brewers will also take center stage, presenting their craft beers and showcasing their creativity and expertise. You’ll have the opportunity to taste a variety of styles and flavors while discovering the artistry of homegrown brewing masters.
In the evening, the atmosphere will come alive with concerts and live music performances, creating a true festival vibe

You can take part in an interesting hike through hop fields and tourist attractions of Žalec on the last Saturday in August.
Hop Trail Hike
The traditional Hop Trail Hike starts at the Eco-Museum of Hop-Growing and Brewing Industry in Slovenia on the last Saturday in August. At the start, participants will be greeted by the hop elder and the hop princess, the two symbolic figures in the hop-growing tradition.
The approximately 14km-long flat trail first takes us to the Novo Celje mansion, then it takes a turn through the hop fields and to the Vrbje pond, continuing its course along the Savinja River to Šempeter and the Roman Necropolis, which you can also tour. The trail then returns back towards Žalec and ends at the beer fountain in Žalec.
In 2011, the Hop Trail was selected as the second best themed trail in Slovenia.
This year all the hikers are invited to join us on Saturday, 29th August 2026 at 8 AM at the Eco-Museum of Hop-Growing and Brewing Industry in Slovenia and finish at the beer fountain. Hike is cancelled due bad weather.
